Bridge Inspections Scheduled - Occasional Lane Closures for Next Two Weeks

INSPECTIONS SCHEDULED FOR PORTSMOUTH, NH-KITTERY, ME LIFT BRIDGES
OCCASIONAL LANE CLOSURES ON LONG AND MEMORIAL BRIDGES FOR TWO WEEKS


The New Hampshire Department of Transportation announces planned detailed inspections of the two lift bridges connecting Portsmouth, NH and Kittery, Maine are scheduled to begin on today (May 26).

The mechanical, electrical and structural inspections of the Sarah Long Bridge (US 1A Bypass) and the Memorial Bridge (US 1) will require occasional weekday daily lane closures at one of the bridges.

This inspection work, which is expected to take two weeks to complete, and is being done in conjunction with the Connections Study undertaken by the States of Maine and New Hampshire to examine the bridges crossings over the Piscataqua River.
